Michigan Shifting Gears Michigan Shifting Gears is a three-month MEDC program that helps highly experienced, educated, and talented people undergoing a career transition find new opportunities with smaller, innovative companies. The program offers executive classroom sessions, networking events, a three-day business simulation, one-on-one mentorship, and each participant completes an 80-hour pro bono internship for a start-up or small business. The purpose of the program is to help displaced professionals learn new ways to frame their value in the workplace and to develop networks – thus opening new doors to job opportunities and allowing Michigan to retain key talent for growing employers. 2013 Cohort Dates: Spring Program (Cohort14): April 16-August 7, 2013 Summer Program (Cohort 15): June 18-September 18, 2013 Fall Program (Cohort 16): September 24-December 11, 2013
